Transition Touring Exhibition

"Transition" is a major international touring exhibition of contemporary forged metal design. It is represented by The British Artist Blacksmiths Association (BABA), and opened in September 2016 at the Kazematten, Ypres, Belgium to coincide with the ‘Ypres 2016’ International Blacksmithing Event.

"Burned Oak". The composition is a system of oak timbers connected by steel clamps, which is a Transition of material and shape from the bottom to the top.

The timber under the influence of the fire loses its shape on its way from bottom to top and disappears at all on the top only leaving iron clamps.

In the beginning (at the bottom) the iron clamps serve to connect the parts but in the end (on the top) they become the main and the only part of composition.
